Resources for Students

Below are some suggested websites to assist students with their learning.  There are many more than but these are some of our favorites.

Activities for ESL Students including quizzes, exercises & puzzles.

Babelfish

Translates many languages into English.

Englishstuff

English Stuff provides free activities for learners including TOEFL, grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary testing and quizzes.

ESL Cafe

ESL Cafe offers student discussion forums, ESL chat rooms (only English is spoken), quizzes, slang, and more.

ESL/EFL Reading

This site has several short stories which are easy to read.

Fun Easy English

This site contains good pronunciation learning and practing sounds along with other ESL activites.

Howjsay

This site is a free resource that helps with pronuncitation and is a talking dictionary for those learning the English language.

Many Things

This site has interesting topics, lessons, and games for ESL students.

Ultimate Guide to Free Reading and Literacy Resources

This site has a great list of family-friendly sites that you can explore with your children.  Thanks to Valentina from the Hastings Center for bringing it to our attention!

Randalls’s ESL Lab

This site has exercises in listening and listening comprehension.

Easy World of English

An attractive, user-friendly website including grammar, pronunciation, reading and listening practice and an interactive picture dictionary.

ESL Bits

Audiobooks, news stories, short stories, songs and radio dramas. Choose between faster or slower listening speeds and read along with the texts of the stories and songs. For intermediate and advanced learners.

GCF Learn Free

A well-designed site with interactive tutorials for everything from operating an ATM machine to reading food labels. This link will take you to the section on reading which has resources for English language learners as well, including stories to listen to and read along, and picture dictionaries.

Exam English

This site has free practice tests for learners of English.

Learn4Good

This site offers free TOEFL practice tests and preparation.
